I really enjoy posting videos on Youtube & Jayden… well, he would live on Youtube if I let him! Really, how many Minecraft videos could there be!?!
***Side Note*** After reading this first couple of lines over my shoulder & then running to his room I was just informed that here are approximately 78,600,000 Minecraft related videos on youtube.
We have a youtube channel that I sometimes post on but after going through to review the comments (you have to keep the Internet trolls in check) I realized that I have just about 500 subscribers. Why not do some vlogs! It puts a face & voice with the blog as well as I realize that sometimes it's easier to watch a 3 minute video than it is to read a super long blog. The videos of Jayden overstimulated or even the interview style videos to get a look at his perspective are interesting, fun, & judging from the overwhelming response from readers they are helpful so check it out: Adventures In Aspergers The YouTube Channel

Our Family Christmas Video 2013 {The Creepy Elf On The Shelf}

Every year we try to do a Christmas video. Last year we did our version of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, if you haven't seen that go check it out! This year we combine the two! My dad is really crafty so when the kids got into the Elf he made a giant one for his porch & every day we dove past their house the giant elf would be doing something different on his porch! Everything from playing a big wooden banjo to…well see for yourself!
Well, I stopped off today & hijacked the giant elf & the result is creepy, funny, & did I mention creepy! The kids had a blast & it turned out so darn cute! The creepy song playing always puts it over the top for me! It's like something out of a bad B Horror Movie from 1991. Hope you enjoy!

I have just been notified that school will NOT be in session tomorrow & as a result of this as well as the thick ice that is on our street we will be forced to co-habitat in this house without the possibility of 'Me Time' for, I believe, the 5th day. I say I believe because I have lost count at this point & it feels like it's been 100 years.
As this situation is unavoidable due to my wife, your mother's, mandate that I not "Endanger The Children's Lives" by taking unnecessary trips to wal-mart I have come up with a few simple terms that will make for a truce that I know both our people's can live with so that peace & harmony will be enjoyed by all.

- If kids awake before sunrise or, more importantly, before Dad-Rise the kids CAN play Minecraft, watch 'Netflix Kids', play iPad games or any other Parent-Sanctioned activity as long as that activity meets the following requirements: It Doesn't Wake The Parents!
- Pop Tarts, OJ, & Multiple Cereals will be made available to your people but NO, I repeat NO, Rice Crispy Treats may be touched.
- This land we share overflows with resources: iPad, iPod, TV, Netflix, Wii, & 2 iMac Computers. These resources must be shared by your people & not fought over because someone is putting lava on someone else's house in minecraft or another obvious act of war.
Violation of these terms will be viewed as an ACT OF WAR against Dad & you will be retaliated against with the full force of the Parental Arsenal.
I know if these terms are agreed to & the members of your tribe abide by them we will all live in peace. With a bit of understanding & you three steering clear of my room so I don't get woken up before 6:30AM I know we will not end up like the Donner Party…I'm looking at you middle son…I WILL cook you rotisserie style!

Thanksgiving Thankfulness! {Melatonin, Minecraft, & Whiskey!}
After some serious decorating & school letting out we really tried to spend some time driving home the meaning of the holidays at the same time getting some family time in without making it seem like we were putting a gun to the kids head. Our first attempt failed! Rudolph came on last night & we were all jazzed up for it but when we sat down to watch Jayden says "Do I have to watch this? I've seen it like 1000 times… No offense" hey, the kid said no offense! I'll take it! So after that failed we tried seeing what everyone was thankful for. Zion was thankful for the dog, Annie. Dean was thankful for Momma & Daddy. Jayden was thankful for… Minecraft!
Thankfulness, perspective, being humble is all a work in progress in our house…not just for the kids either. I know someone who need their head screwed on straight everyone once in a while because the ego gets out of hand or this person may or may not get cocky from time to time & it's also been mentioned that this person is a grumpy cuss at times too so you know…. we all could use these holidays to help ground us & remind us whats important! Oh & that person I was talking about. I know all about that person because… well… know that person well… Totally talking about my wife… yeah… super cocky, egotistical, grumpy cuss :) Please don't tell her I made that joke! She's so pretty!
On to what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving! So here is my list!!
I'm thankful for Minecraft! Yeah, that's right I said it! I'm thankful because not only does it hold their interest but it also is probably the best baby sitter I've ever had…yeah that's right I said that too!! What! Granted it bites you from time to time by spurring an hour explanation about minecraft & what awesome thing I NEED to know about minecraft!
I'm SOOOO thankful for Melatonin! I can still vividly remember the nights before our friend Melatonin came to visit when Zion would sleep 30 minutes a night. Jayden would be up 5 or 6 times. I am SO thankful for Melatonin! The fact that they make it in Gummy form so its not a fight to get them to take it is just icing on the cake!
Turkey! After a long day of being a parent sometimes you HAVE to have some Turkey…
Wait… Hold On…
aahhhh, that's better! That's the kind of Turkey I'm talkin' about! Lets try that again! I'm not saying my kids push me to have a drink sometimes… but they defiantly make me appreciate the hours of 8PM - 11PM in that magical time between when they are in bed but before I go to bed! That special time when I can watch the news, eat a bowl of the name brand ice cream that I have hidden in the back of the freezer, & at times have a big ol' glass of whiskey!
I'm thankful for the odd ball crew I've been blessed with! They are unlike any other & that's A-OK with me!
Lastly….
I'm thankful for this hot slice of mom! She puts up with ALOT that while are not all appropriate to tell you about here on the blog here are just a few that will help you admire her strength not to put something in my drink so she can be done with me:
- Eating bad food despite warnings from her only to complain to her after
- Randomly breaking out into song, not good songs either! Bad obscure 90's R&B & HipHop
- 70% of all things said to me end up somehow being worked into me spiting an obscure movie quote back
- That I forget something the minute she tells me only to remember & think it's an original idea a short time late & go running in to tell her!
- That even when she is sick, tired, scrubby feeling, or down right pissed off I have no sense of what good timing is & WILL make a pass at her that 80% of the time includes some type of wildly inappropriate pickup line or an outright offensive act that may or may not include things like a pat on the behind.
& that's not even the worse parts! She's an amazing woman!

Exploring the Asian Grocery Market! {A Full Day Of Fun On The Go!}
Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary! We never really celebrate it but seeing as this is 5 years we thought we would set out with the kids & just go, so we did. I got her a trip for next month to a nice B&B with a private hot tub & she got me probably the best gift I've ever been given! Are you ready to see it....I don't think you are.....it's so awesome!
Jayden loves anything to do with pretty much any kind of Asian culture. His favorite gift, I think, he has ever received was a bamboo plant that is somehow still alive after 7 months in his room. So, on our adventure today we decided to stop off in the Asian district of Oklahoma City & visit a grocery store called The Asian Market. Right off the bat he was excited when he saw the large statues & fountains outside. As we walked through the doors it quickly became a different story! Instead of the sweet smell of awesomeness he got the very real smell of fish, very fresh fish! His face went from 'This is gonna be the best' to 'RUN AWAY!!' in 2.8 seconds.
Despite the fear & disgust we pushed forward. All three boys were excited to find everything a kid could want (well, an odd ball kid like mine) bamboo plants, jade statues, & hats! After looking around for a short bit we hurried out as to avoid the fish but all in all a great time! When we were getting ready for bed this evening he snuggled himself under his SensaCalm weighted blanket & talked about the experience. I thought, after asking him, it would be cool to film our talk so I grabbed the camera. He loves making videos &, as you can see from the video below, he was super animated this evening. I think that's a mix of being excited for being on video, still being a bit over stimulated from the busy day, & the fact that I rib him a bit. Side Project Time! {Our Autism Puzzle Piece Key Hook Wall Hanger}
If you follow me via the blog, Facebook, twitter, or instagram you probably know that I LOVE to dip my toe in a lot of different things! I'm work in an emergency room, I photograph weddings, I do the blog & speaking events, I have worked in a funeral home, 911 dispatch, ambulance services & usually all at the same time. **First Thing Is First**
This is the awesome part! As most of you read in my last blog post & on Facebook & on instagram, & on twitter, & on any bathroom wall I visited then you know I have the honor of interviewing Dr. Temple Grandin on June 19th! She has a new book out called The Autistic Brain. (Click on it to be taken over to Amazon) The second nugget of awesomeness is the extra autographed copy of the book she sent me to give a way to......lets see, who shall I pick...duck...duck...duck...No, there has to be an easier way! **On to a quick little blog post!**
One more big 'Thanks' to all of you who sent messages, comments, or just thought "Hey, I hope that one guy who writes that one blog I read is okay...I think he lives in Oklahoma." Well, we are okay! We decided not to let the crazy weather get us down & after gathering & dropping off a car load of donations to the Red Cross we loaded up for summer awesomeness! I really want my kids to have the childhood that I had; backpacking, rafting, camping, & all that outdoorsy stuff but it's just not that way. After Jayden got into running club in school he is a bit more active so we tackled a nature hike to see how that would go! I was pretty surprised that we made it about 3 miles! Was there some crying? Were there times when whining could be heard? Was some of the belly aching coming from me? Yes, Yes, & OHHHHH Yes!
We are really trying to get them out more & away from the TV, Wii, Skylanders, & any device that has MineCraft loaded on it! Jayden more so than the other two worries me with his inactivity. You really have to break an arm to get him outside, buying a trampoline helped a bit. So besides the nature park we also hit a park with ducks to feed, the Route 66 POP's Soda POP store, & some other fun stuff! Check out some of the fun below.

Speaking of summer! I decided after visiting the grocery store that I may be looking at drawing straws to see which one of the kids I'm going to have to give up for adoption after realizing just how much these little trash compactors eat!!!! Did I eat that much when I was a kid!?! They get up, eat breakfast, watch thirty min of cartoons, & then they are ready for a snack. They eat lunch, throw their plate away, get a snack, jump on the trampoline, come in for a snack, watch adventure time, have a snack, fight with each other, & then ask when dinner is going to be ready! AAAHHHH! :)

Our New Web Show!!
I thought it would be a cool thing to do a new video. We have done one or two in the past & people respond to them very well. It helped me a lot when we first started going through diagnosis to see other kids that were just like my son. So after we talked to him about it a bit he not only liked the idea but liked the idea of doing several. After hashing out some details on what to talk about. (Not to autism/aspergers heavy) he wanted to call it Around The World With Aspergers! I loved it! Below is our first video like this. A bit about what he thinks about having Asperger's; the good as well as the bad & a bit about one of his favorite subjects.....minecraft! Yeah, you other aspie parents feel my pain there right? yeah....minecraft but he loves it! There will be more to come with not only loads of talk about everything from Skylanders to Science but about autism related talk & maybe even go over some of the questions we get in our inbox from time to time. We hope you enjoy!
